The art collection consists of works produced by young Dutch and international artists. The imagery is related as much as possible to one of the four business areas in which Arcadis is active: Infrastructure, Water, Environment and Buildings. Imagery of people and connections (rail, road and water) are the link to Infrastructure; the human behavior and nature imagery for Environment (land, air and water) and development (industry, urban or rural) for Buildings. The link to Infrastructure is shown through paintings depicting mobility and speed from the perspective of both rail and road infrastructure. Nature is represented in multiple forms, with or without the human figure in photos and graphics. Industrial development is reflected in a number of figurative paintings as factory complexes and/or urban landscapes.

Art policy
With the art collection the company wishes to provide an attractive and inspiring working environment for its employees and encourage communications. The art collection emphasizes the company's corporate identity and links elements of the corporate culture. Collecting art is part of Arcadis' Corporate Social Responsiblity.

The Board of Directors decides in 2002 to start collecting contemporary art. An important reason for this is to replace the art reproductions by original art. Three portraits of Chairmen of beginning and end twentieth century are the starting point of the contemporary collection.

In the Netherlands Arcadis financially supports the National Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam through a fellowship. Also the company organizes each year the Artcadia, Imagine your Future project for students of secondary schools. In collaboration with the Dutch artist Jean-Paul Marsman they create paintings, models and objects to demonstrate how they would cope with present and future social problems. The prize is a trip for ten students (and two teachers) to one of the cities in the world where the knowledge and skills of Arcadis are being deployed (
