Tomáš Libertíny
Artist-in-residence
Lakeside Bee Farm

In collaboration with artist Tomáš Libertíny, Lakeside Bee Farm has been built on the estate of the headquarters of Lakeside Capital Partners in Rotterdam - Overschie. The launch of the Lakeside Bee Farm has been a special project given the importance of sustaining and growing the global bee population, which has recently suffered from a colony collapse disorder. The management of Lakeside Capital Partners attaches great importance to and aims to contribute to the circular economy, the environment, sustainability and art & culture. The latter is supported through the Lakeside Collection, an art collection of modern and contemporary art. The long-standing relationship between the artist, Tomáš Libertíny and the Managing Partner of Lakeside Capital Partners, Ali Keles, created a fertile foundation for this long-term collaboration, allowing the artist to sculpt in collaboration with bees at the Lakeside Bee Farm in Rotterdam. Together with the efforts of a beekeeper, the Lakeside Bee Farm's colonies, which consist of approximately 300,000 bees, are maintained. Currently living and working in Rotterdam, through his art, Tomáš Libertíny constantly explores the beauty and intelligence of nature and investigates the existential questions of the human mind.

Marloes Roeper
Artist-in-residence
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen

Marloes Roeper (graduated HKU Utrecht) has won the first Lakeside Collection Award in 2021. The Lakeside Collection Award was created in 2021 and for the first three years the collection will be dedicated to presenting the prize to one of the participants of the Best Graduates exhibition, which is organized annually by the Ron Mandos Young Blood Foundation. The winner of the Lakeside Collection Award will receive an artist-in-residence program in the compartment of the Lakeside Collection in the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, including financial support and supervision during this period. The wish is to build a long-term relationship with the artists. Motivation jury of Lakeside Collection Award 2021: “The jury has great admiration for all students who were hindered by COVID19 in their interaction with others during their last two years of study. But the results were astonishing. After a long neck-and-neck race, the jury chose Marloes Roeper. Marloes Roeper knows how to achieve maximum effect with minimal resources. Her quick brushstrokes and her color schemes show bravado and have a direct effect on the senses. It mysteriously stimulates the sense of space. Marloes can make the world seem simple in an instant and you hardly know how she succeeds. But the joy of painting is clearly visible and contagious. We therefore believe that a graduate with the boldness and open-mindedness of Marloes Roeper holds a promise for the future. By presenting the Lakeside Collection Award, the jury wants to challenge her to show more. With the Award we hope to support her in her further professionalization and to offer her a success factor that she deserves at this point in her career.
